Springtime Stress Reduction!!!

Smart, Timely, Really…$%$^@# this is just stressing me out even more.

It’s almost that time of year, spring panic!  Err…cleaning.  It’s that magical time of year when we stop making time for ourselves and only focus on the things that surround us.  It’s important to take care of yourself year round though, and, yes, that importance comes with a complex explanation.

I’m talking about exercise, people.

Exercise can be viewed very simply, physiologically speaking.  Exercise is any activity that elevates your heart rate…an elevated heart rate means your blood is traveling through your body quicker…speedier blood travel means faster reactions and more efficient hormone release…all of that means you’ll get some all-natural happy-inducing substances.  Catecholamines, which are primarily epinephrine and norepinephrine, (adrenaline and, well…not adrenaline) regulate everything to do with your hormonal response to exercise – your fight or flight response, where to send more blood and which hormones to release.  The end product of your exercise and that “high” feeling you often feel is the result of dopamine, an endorphin and hormone which is released after an exercise bout to regain a rhythm between blood flow and catecholamine release.

In a nutshell, that is.
