The Benefits to Online Training

By Elliot Fisher MS, ATC, CSCS, PES

Personal training is a sought-after service.  There are many benefits to it including improved health, wellness, performance, and body composition.  A new trend that is emerging is online training, where trainers and coaches will help a client by giving them a program and helping them reach their goals via email/phone/skype etc.  This is a great service as it has many benefits.

Education

People mainly higher a personal trainer because they want someone who knows more than they do to help them reach their goal.  A personal trainer will have more knowledge on the process than the individual.  Through training the personal trainer will help the client learn what they need to do to reach their goals.  This can be done by in person training or by online training.  This can be a bigger emphasis for online training though because it is mostly done through online communication rather than a trainer just telling you to do at the gym.

 Convenience

Going to the gym and utilizing a personal trainer is great, however it might not be convenient for everyone.  Some people do not have the time to go to the gym every day, or may not have a gym membership, or any other circumstance.  It also may be tough to schedule with a personal trainer if you have a schedule with odd hours or are very particular with when you can workout.  An online personal trainer can help tailor a workout routine specific to the individual’s needs, making this a more convenient service than traditional training.

Accountability

Many people higher personal trainers for the accountability.  Knowing they are paying and have a session keeps them consistent and helps them reach their goal.  The same thing is true for online training, as regular check ins will help you be able to stay consistent and on the right track.

Price

Personal trainers can be very expensive.  At BRN fitness, trainers cost anywhere from $45-65+/hour.  Our online training service is only $50/month making it the about the cost of a regular gym membership, or the price one session/month.  This is super affordable and can be a great option if someone is on a tight budget.
